*coming back to reality*
Sooo, Thanksgiving just passed. Good stuff. I did infact consume turkey and snacked until I couldn’t snack no mo. I’m just a lil snacka! Anyway, I had a fantabulous time. Well, some people got on me nerves but that’s expected when you pack 15+ bodies in very small 3 bedroom house. Only sooo many places one can go. And you hear everythang!
We arrived Wednesday afternoon about 5ish. Checked in at the hotel. The suite actually was pretty nice. It only needed two adjustments: 1. the sofa bed. come on people. I had to bootleg *sigh* tis mi life. 2. It would have been nice to have a key to the 2nd entrance. NONE of our keys worked at the same time. When mine worked, mom’s didn’t, etc etc. Now our tradition…yep, I can call it a tradition cause I rarely remember not doing it…is to go to grandma’s the night we get into town. So, why was mi madre on some, well I’m tired etc. etc. So I asked her well “can I take the car and go to grandma’s. Cause clearly I hadn’t seen her in awhile and she had been sick. Sooooooooo I wound up droppin them off at the Red Lobster round the corner and haulin it to Grandma’s. I got to see errybody and got back to the hotel between 11:30 and midnight.
Thursday, we get to grandma’s at 11:30. My mom’s makin her cornbread dressin. It’s actually a slightly different recipe from the past times and it was quite scrumptious. Auntie was makin her sugar coma inducing sweet potato pies. By 2:30 we were FINALLY eating. did I mention that earlier that mornin my mom and the fiance went to the sto and left me at the hotel BUT closed their adjoining door therefore I was stuck without access to the vending machine therefore i was ravenous…yeah, 2:30 we eat. Errythang is good. Auntie’s mac and cheese isn’t as dry as I remembered…my bad auntie!
Errythang was on point. Activities to follow included football watchin, spades playin, and a very hilarious scrabble beatdown by my literarily (is that word) gifted uncle. What made it even worse is that he was “tired” and watchin the football game at the same time. I don’t remember much else! I blame the turkey! Oh I do remember tryin to find some eggnog and the kroger being sold out. But that’s about it.
Friday, we make our way over to grandpa’s cause my momma and the fiance have a couseling session with gramps. I head out with another aunt and my lil cuz to the mall. It was packed! And ohhhhhh the ghetto hairstyles aboundeded. One girl had a tuck in the front, in the middle was her hair in a spikey ponytail, then at the bottom was a weaved in french braid annnnnnnnd she had flat twists on the side…ohhh I wish I’d had my camera!
[sidenote: I just went into the break room to pop my mini-bag of popcorn and there on the the counter was a slice of red velvet cake. I’m proud to report, I resisted! I reached but I didn’t make contact! *pattin oneself on the back*
/sidenote]
I window shopped. Got overcharged for a slurpy and some semi decent pretzel bites. Got a salad and some cinnamon rolls *I know…good combo…* Pointed out cute guys to my cousin. And ran into some more family.
We took it back to grandma’s and chilled with family for awhile. Planned some more of my momma wedding and whatnot. I get to wear an ivory or cream pantsuit! I got til June 17th or 19th to look the hotness! Hotness I tell ya! Then all us older youngins started gettin claustrophobic up in that joint! So we headed to the movies about 8pm. Wynsong across from the Target. We gets there and I walk up to the window intending to pay with my debit card and get shut down! So my cuz had to pay…but I paid him back. The window girl talkin bout “we can’t accept these anymore because of the interlink symbol” Bulllshhhhhhhhh. *I’m ok!
* We saw Derailed and I’d like my money back. We were desperate. It was either that or the movie with Usher in it…gag me now.
Saturday mainly consisted of us procuring seafood. We went to grandma’s that mornin. At a lil breakfast but not much cause we was finna grub at 2pm. Well we planned on going to Pelican somethin..it’s buffet that’s suppose to be really good but they don’t open til 4pm. I also found out that uncle B and ‘nem wasn’t comin like orginally planned. Oh great..I get stuck with Uncle C & Aunt P and mom&the fiance. Uncle C&AuntP cool people but being stuck with 4 adults..not cool. Long story short, we wound up at The Crab Shack out on Tybee. Interesting would be an understatement. The crab was good except for it wasn’t enough. Man times IS hard. I ordered 1lb of Snow Crab for $16. I was hoping for 3 cluster and only got 2. Anybody who’s a crab connessiour knows that that’s a tease. I was teased ya’ll…teased *shakin head* I had to just suck it up cause there was no way I was orderin 2lbs for $35…yes, you are allowed to gawk at that price. Katrina was definitely the baddest b****. 2lbs used to be $25 tops with drank. Not no more. Those days are gone. *sniffle*
So we eat, and skidaddle. We were significantly outnumbered!
I remember I was lookin for some more Captain’s Waffers Crackers. And I got a lil loud when I said “yes and there’s my cracker!” Clearly I had to clarify and say “yes and there is my Captain’s Waffer cracker!” I’ll let that marinate.
We debated on whether to go to the tree lighting but my momma’s tiredness won that battle. *dang she actin ole…lookin around for the pimp slap that would come if she knew about this site* We headed to the A instead. Got home bout 10pm and read til I couldn’t read no more…well, I had finished the book!
Thus my holiday weekend. I’m tired and should probably be on some cleansing program *TMI* But it’s all good.
