*shakin head* Office Politics…why must we play these games?
I’m probably sure I have mentioned somewhere on here that my immediate boss left 8 months ago and they’ve been slowing around on interviewing people for the position. I might have also mentioned that I’d applied for my immediate boss’ position and got denied. If I hadn’t then, there ya go.
Now, they’ve interviewed two people that I’ve seen so far. The first interview kinda blind sided me, but I got back on my game and did some “creative listening” outside the door while looking busy. The second interview, I’m cool as a summer breeze. The lady walked in and asked for one of my supervisors and instead of making the handicapped admin assistant get into his chair and wheel all the way back, I said “oh no, let me go get her”…all the while smiling that patented smile *cheese* See, that let the supervisor lady know that, I know they interviewing *playing da game*
So, the secretary lady let me know that my immediate supervisor was lookin for me cause they finna kick me out of my cubicle. So I called my momma first to get her take on it. Then I said a prayer, called to see if she was in her cube, and headed on up. I gets to her cube and I smile pleasantly and plop down in her chair, to let her know, I’m finna get comfortable for this. She goes on to tell me that they’re interviewing and should be hiring within the next few weeks and that the person will need to sit in my cubicle. I smile and said ok. *I was floating when I first got here, guess I can do it again…expletive* Then I asked her if they were thinking about raising my hourly pay? She said “no, I hadn’t really thought about it, but are you requesting a raise?” I said “yes I am, and $7 would be nice *smile*” She wrote that down and said she’d ask LOA. Den, she went on to ask me if I would train the new person as far as what I do. I smiled and said yes…but in my mind “heck nah if you don’t give me a raise…even then, I might dip on yo janky butt.”
SO two things went down,
I asked for a raise, that I deserve. Let me break down for you good people. Ok, I began my “mini career” here on July 31,2003 at $6.50. TWO YEARS, 3MONTHS later in September, 2005 I get a wopping .20 cents that I HAD TO ASK FOR. So I’m up to $6.70 wooptyfreakindo! Now, May 1st, 2006 I’m asking for $7….a measly .30cents more.
This brings me to this whole training thing *I’m so trying to refrain from calling this lady some inappropriate names* Now, if my supervisor would have given it some thought, she wouldn’t have had to train anybody, if she would have hired me. Secondly, I refuse to let this new lady stress me. See, I deal with books, but there is also some paper filing involved. I will cease and desist ALL paper filing. I will do it in this professional manner “oh, well I was doing this paper filing while there was no one to fill the position but this isn’t in my job description, therefore I’m giving it back to you.” *smooches* If the chick wants to protest, I’m out. I refuse to do her job, b/c really all she’ll be doing is some desk hours and then coming back to her cube and surfin da net. No haps. I’m not a fan of quitting and not having something else lined up, but I have several paychecks that I can save up while looking for more work. They don’t know who dey messin wit. Dey don’t know nerrr.
Whoooooooooooooooooosssssssaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
