I went upstairs to inquire about my raise, since it’s been two weeks, and boy did I find out some things that I probably wouldn’t have known unless I took the initiative.
Me: Hi, I was coming to get an update on the raise *smiling nicely*
Oppressor: Oh well J hasn’t gotten back to me.
Me: Alright *I’m outta here…holllerrrr*
O: Oh, we did hire someone for N’s job and she’ll be starting on June 2nd, also how many hours did you say you worked?
Me: 20
O: well, we are going to need to cut that down to 10hrs because with another person, we won’t need you as much.
Me: *WT*@#$ I can’t pay for school on that* *Just smile* Alright.
O: what’s your schedule?
Me: blah blah blah *Just tell her as if you’ll be here, play the game girl*
O: well thank’s serenity
Me: Uh huh *smile* * now that was a Highly Evolved Life Lesson right there*
So party people, I immediately went to my backup job and got updated. Right now, we’re going through a big move so some things are getting combined and people are fighting for space. I’mma have faith that I can get into this job. God will make a way, He’s always opened doors for me and I’m very grateful.
June 2nd is coming up fast and lawd will have to be my rock.
My mom reads the Daily Word in the morning and I picked it up today and here was the word for today, the timing was never better…ya’ll have a blessed day:
“BE PREPARED.” EPHESIANS 6:13 TM
05.16.06
Workplace contamination
The “toxins” in our work environment can invade our attitudes, thoughts and behaviors. So, stay focused on the spiritual battle that awaits you. Prepare for it each morning by putting on your armor. What armor? Listen: “Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take…every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them…God’s Word is an indispensable weapon…prayer is essential in this on going warfare…Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind” (Eph 6:13-18 TM). Perhaps you’d like to pray the following prayer to get you started: “Father, thank you for the blessings of my present job. As I suit up for work today, protect me, strengthen me, use me and bless me. Let me remain focused on You, allowing Your Word and Your presence to shield me from all contaminants such as pride, insensitivity, being short-tempered, and failure to show love. My worth comes from you, not my job, so I rest in the knowledge that you see all I do, and that my labor will not go unrewarded. Amen.”
Ships sail on water, but if the water gets in, even a battleship will sink. So, go through the waters of your work environment without allowing them to contaminate you. And be realistic in expecting what the job will deliver. Keep your focus on why you’re there, Who sent you, Who sees you, and Who’s preparing you for greater things.
Serenity
