Tomorrow evening is the first time I will attempt to do photography of a live human being.

Maybe I should clarify for those who are confused. You see, my photography has been more “ohhh that’s a pretty flower…let’s photo it” or “Hmmm I need to take some pictures at this family function”.

I’ve shown some photos to some people…granted they are family…but they’ve said I have an “eye” for things. My mom believed in me so much she dropped over $1000 on my camera, affectionately coined “GiGi”. If that’s not backin you…I don’t know what is.

Well my cousin is performing at this lil spot tomorrow night and I’m going to make him my first live subject. I have an action shot setting on my camera so hopefully I can get some good stuff. My main focus is to capture the emotion as he performs…to try to capture his passion so to speak. I picked this venue b/c I feel comfortable in this space…it’s a small place, so me getting close to the stage isn’t an issue. It also helps that he’s fam cause I won’t be “that stalker chick with the camera”…lol.

I’m a little concerned about the lighting but I’m going to play around with my camera tonight and see what’s poppin.

My lil cousins are having a birthday party tomorrow, so to get my photo skills warmed up, I may take pics of their party. Hmm that does sound good.

It’s funny, I really can’t tell you when I began to have this love of photography. I’ve always held an appreciation for the arts. I think it started with the purchase of my first digital camera. It was a Kodak Easyshare. I saved up my lil pennies and dropped close to $400 for that thing, which to my slight dissapointment became obsolete after a couple months…I really do believe I bought that thing at the beginning of the wave of new digital technology. I started snapping pictures and it was love.

After a couple of years I graduated, thanks to mom, to my Canon Rebel XT…I still haven’t figured out HALF the things this beautiful machine does, but I’m learning. I finally bought “GiGi” a home after about 7months of putting her back in her bubble wrap and then back in the box…lol…just triflin! lol Now my next purchase for GiGi is her filters. It will allow me to take super detailed pics without having to drop $200 or $300 on several different lenses. I like this option b/c I’m a college student with limited funds.

Well it’s time to get off work!
