Do I even have an audience anymore????
*shakin head*
So this will begin my 3rd week here in the ARK. I’m adjusting pretty well.
Last week I did my budget on what I was getting paid at my first job and got MAD *Madea stance* I quickly got dressed and went to the nearest mall to look for another job! lol. I was determined. Now I’m in the state and city with alot of the caucasian persuasion *thanks KaNisa* and I was a little hesitant about what shops I went to. Now I can deal with white people, my college is made up of them, but these are a different breed. Where I feel that the ones on campus have learned to tolerate our prescence, some of them here in the ARK don’t have to cause we’re so few. Annnnywho, I hit places like JCPenny, Sears, Icing *although those girls were scary*, even the Disney Store *I was desparate* lol. Then I looked at NY&Co and knew there was a Lane Bryant, known from now on as LB, somewhere and I set out to find it.
As I walk in, I put on my “Becky” smile and voice. (all emphasis will be highligted with an exlamation point)
*clearing throat* Hi! I’m here for the summer and was wondering if you were hiring. *big ass cheesy grin*
Manager: Actually yes!!!! I need someone to work evenings and weekends!
Me: Oh great! I’m you’re girl! *another big cheesy grin* *maintain eye contact*
Manager: *pushes post it note toward me* Well, put your name and phone number down for me! Can you come back tomorrow around 1pm?
Me: Definitely!!!!
Manager: Ok! we’ll see you tomorrow!
Me: Ok!
Ya’ll the interview was interesting. The whole time I was like “can I keep up this perkiness for the rest of the summer”. lol. I mean I’m a fairly pleasant person, I just don’t go around smiling all the time. It’s gonna be an experience!!!! <–lol.
I got the job though and as I we wrapped it up she was like “I knew you were right when you walked in the store. Your personality is so bubbly! I think you would serve our customors well”. I guess we can all act when necessary. I really needed that job thoug and the other managers I was meeting were getting caught up in my skin tone and natural hair. God is good cause this white lady didn’t seem to mind not one bit. Actually her store was as close to the UN as you could get, I saw an asian girl refolding clothes! lol
hmmm what else has been going on?
Ah! We went to LR this weekend to eat at this seafood joint. The shrimp aka skrimps were good! They get a thumbs up for the fact they had hot sauce and ketchup in the house! I don’t eat cocktail sauce so I usually use those two ingredients to make my own sauce. Now to the yummiest part of the dinner…the company! Lawd *fanning* one of my cousin’s friends invited his frat *fanning* the brotha was a Mor.r.is Ch.est.nut look a like. I ain’t lying..I ain’t lying! Smooth bald head, magnificent eyebrows..thick like Mo.rr.is’, nice build, GREAT teeth..alll straight and white, nice full lips *tear to the eye* And ya’ll, he ordered skewers. I ain’t gone lie, I watched a brotha eat, out the corner of my eye. *fainting*
ok, back. lol
Moving on…
Church was good again. lol The message was out of 2 Corinthians 12: 7-10. Titled: The Value of the Thorn. Good stuff. The overarching theme is that the thorn is there to keep up humble, to remind us that there is greater power than ourselves, and that we should turn to that power in times of tribulation.
Well, I will try to keep this updated because I do want to chronicle my time here in the ARK. Until next time!
