Soooooo I realized last night that I’m bougie or siddity <—spelling?

Anywho, me and my friend Penny didn’t know what we wanted to do and she wasn’t dressed to go “out” soooo we decided to have wine, cheese and movie night.

I spruced up the den and eagerly awaited her arrival. She’s a wine connisuer having worked in a country club and served all the snooty white people *no offense..I have white friends…lol, even in my no offense, it was reverse offensiveness* [I swear somebody has snatched my body…I don’t know if I want it back just yet.] She told me they routinely would pop the corks, put them a bowl and then try to match them to their original bottles.. ummm yeah..k.

Anyway, she arrived with a red wine..the name escapes me but I’m not much of a red wine drinker..I’m a lil sissified…it’s bitter and it burns! lol Let’s just say “hypothetically” she finished the bottle by herself..and it showed..she tried to ‘walk the line’ on my den carpet and wobbled the whole time. All I can remember saying is “don’t fall cause I can’t do nothin for ya. I can throw you a pillow off the couch but that’s it!” My friend has at least 50lbs on me…umm yeah, she get’s a “are you ok?” and pillow.

Our movie of choice was My Fair Lady cause I didn’t own Under the Tuscan Sun. Prior to getting to my house she picked up the goodies from the World Market. She not only got a bottle of red and Chardonnay (sp?), she got this triangular hard crisp bread that had sesame seed flavor to it, some Chavarie goat cheese, brie, and this wonderful italian puff pastry with butter and sugar sprinkled on top. *drooling*

I found this an excellent time to open my bottle of Niagra wine. Oh the splendid heavens did part and the angels sang a blessed aria. <—I’m not a lush, I promise. lol I commenced to almost finish that whole bottle myself..I believe there is only one good glass full left. :-(

Yes, yes, we spent the entire night talking about random things and singing My Fair Lady songs at the top of our lungs. Good ole bougie times! lol
She’s invited me to a Polo party..not the shirt, the actual sport. She went to an ivy league school and this is one of their alumni events. Go figure. My lil state school is like polo what? huh? lol But trust I wouldn’t trade her tution for mine! No sirrrr! I’m still contemplating on going…will the afro work? lol

Is it just me, or is the best sleep wine induced? I had a doulbe wammie myself. I was looking through the linen closet and ran across my sateen sheet. Oh My God. They are the perfect blend. Silk is to slippery but sateen is just right. Soft and smooth but has good traction! lol I fell into a coma. I swear I did! It took until about 10:45am to get out of bed and that was only because my friend had to leave and I had to lock the door.

I think we’ll have to make this a once a month shindig. A wine tasting event with different cheeses, some fruit and the appropriate movie!

This was a definite upgrade from the group blockbuster night at Mikey’s house, some fast food and soda. Complete upgrade!

Now I am fighting to be productive…ahhh it’s only 1:15pm.. I think I’ll get back in my glorious bed and think about being productive between the hours of 3 and 8pm.

I’m going through a dry spell.

Life has been soooo emotionally hectic the past month and a half that just sitting around and doing nothing is wonderful.

I was listening to my favorite radio show this morning and they had a straw/berry. letter on there written by a 23 yr old college student, with her own car and apartment but what she wanted was a man! She also said that she feels that she should be ‘found’ not that she should go out and find.

First, Sh.irl.ey answered by saying that you have to make yourself available. Dress nicer and put yourself in their line of sight because men are hunters. She went on to mention how Ruth went to Boaz and Esther became Queen. I did agree but there’s a fine line between chasing and being available….when have you gone too far?

Then S.t.ev.e answered by saying what da hell you worryin about. You 23 yrs old! Get yo life together before you worry about finding a man. Because if you find the wrong man, you could wind up with situations you can’t handle like unexpected pregnancy etc. He told her “your life is good! You free!” lol “Focus on what you want to do in life…focus on your goals.”

Now, I agree with both viewpoints. Neither is wrong but where do you find the balance. The majority of women want to have that special someone, a person who makes waking up in the morning, that much better. But we women must also rely on ourselves. Tap into that God given strength to achieve, live and thrive.

I guess what I’m asking is “how do you surpress that ‘extra’ womanly side inorder to handle your business?” I mean, wouldn’t you become hardened toward love? Doesn’t basically “buck up and handle yours” entail putting up a mini fence around your heart to keep out the foolishness?

I don’t know, just thought I’d throw some things out there.

I was listening to Jilly’s last CD (new joint out Sept 25th!) and rolled up on this hidden track:

Still Here - J.i!! S.

I am a boisterous river
I am a mountains story
I am a quiet feeling
I am a fragrant flower
I am a moonlit evening
I am a peaceful night
I am a writers thinking
I am a wealth unfathomed
And if you don’t recognize my presence, I am here
And if you don’t recognize me, I am here

I am a source of power
I am excited journey
I am the rock of patience
I am a whisper singing
I am unbridled freedom
I am the thought from thinking
I am a love unshattered
I am the great orgasm

And if you don’t recognize my presence, I am here
And if you don’t recognize my presence, I am here

And even if you don’t recognize me, I‘m still here
And even if you don’t recognize me

And even if you don’t recognize me, I‘m still here
And even if you don’t recognize me, I am, oh, I’m still here

Even if you don’t recognize me, I’m here, I’m here, I’m here

Jesus is good! He will speak through any meduim. I was this.close. to basically settling for what was available. Every morning I listen to the S.t.e.ve H.a.rv.ey morning show and this morning was Fre.e.dom Fr.!day so they get to do anything they want. Well this morning S.t.e.v.e was playing love songs and trying to “skool these young cats” on how to really express themselves to thier lady. He broke out a song I’d forgotten about. I think I’d only heard it once but it was soooooooooooo on point lyrically I couldn’t do anything but sit still.

Ladies, don’t settle! You have choices! I may be romanticizing life but I do believe there is a love like this out there and that it will be expressed better or just as well as these lyrics. Please read them all. It’s a little long but it’s all on point. Here it be: Touched A Dream by R.Ke.ll.y

(Talking) Girl you just don’t know
Last night was incredible. Listen. Check it out.

Last night, I felt the skies open up and rain down heaven
Last night, I felt the sun, the moon and the stars come together
Last night, I heard an angel speak to me he said us forever
And while we were making love, I saw visions of a tropical river

Last night I
Touched a dream
When you were here with me
Last night I
Touched a dream
Girl you fulfill my fantasy
Touched a dream
Said we rewrote the book of love making history
Touched a dream
Last night you brought my dreams to reality

Now last night, I could have sworn I saw an eagle spread his wings
Last night, I heard a massive choir lift their voice and sing
Last night, I saw the world living in peace and harmony
While we were making love, I felt my soul being set free

Last night I
Touched a dream
You were here with me
Last night I
Touched a dream
And you fulfill my fantasy
Touched a dream
I said we rewrote the book of love making history
Touched a dream
Ooh yeah, girl you brought my dreams to reality

After the rain comes the rainbow
The sun will shine after the storm
Oh yes it will and Mother Nature guarantees
Jumped the mountain and touched the sky
Over the sea baby we can fly
When we made love I see the flowers the trees the birds the bees

Last night I touched a dream girl
Touched a dream
You right here with me
Touched a dream
Ohhh ohh oooh a dream
Touched a dream
You fulfill my fantasy oh baby yes you did
Touched a dream
And baby we rewrote the book of love making history yeah yeah
Touched a dream
Girl, you brought my dreams to a reality yeah hey
Last night when you were lying next to me
Touched a dream
You fulfill my fantasy
Touched a dream
Yeah

And baby we rewrote the book of love making history
Touched a dream
Forever I have a dream
A vision of you right there with me
I know you’re my love making queen
Touched a dream
And I am your love making king
Let no man or woman come between
What God has given you and me
Touched a dream
The laws of reciprocity
And give those amorocity (bootlegged form the word amorist)
Provided us with food to eat
Touched a dream
Fills our vacancies but together the perfect chemistry
Forever anniversaries
Touched a dream
You’re the root to my tree, I’m a branch you’re a leaf
The apple carrying my seed
Touched a dream
Fall, winter, summer, spring
That’s why I ain’t gon’ let the devil steal my joy from me cause I done
Touched a dream
Touched a dream
Touched a dream
